NR251 was one of four No.158 Sqdn Halifaxes lost on this operation

Halifax Mk.III - NR251 - NP-B was airborne - 16:47 - 5 Jan 1945 from Lissett,
Yorkshire, UK
Homebound, very badly shot about by a night fighter and abandoned
All the crew managed to parachute out of the aircraft
F/Lt. Elliott was found beside the wreck with his parachute only partly opened
before crashed - 20:15 - beside the Raalterdijk in Haarle (soccer field
nowadays) - 16 km W of Almelo
F/Lt. Elliott, who had married Gladys Letitia Benton of Innisfail, Alberta,
Canada
is buried in the Hellendoorn General Cemetery
As are Mrs. Gladys L. Elliott ashes buried with him since 29 Dec 2006
Sgt. D. McMahon was interned in Camp L1, no POW No. ......

operator) during WW2
but was not passed as A1 for fitness so did not serve outside the UK
He married Nora Atkins during the war (two daughters one son)
Robert W. Elliott died suddenly in 1952 at the age of 35

Caterpillar pin plaque for A. Michael Norris

All whose lives were saved by parachute from the Irvin company automatically
received a pin
and membership in the Caterpillar Club
Mick lost his pin in Paddington Station in London shortly after the war
David was able to contact Irvin and got a replacement pin and presented this to
Mick in 2007
